Experimental Film
At uniSA I took a course in experimental film. I learnt a great deal about how the video cameras react to changes in white-balance, frame rate and how to get the right amount of light coming into the camera to add that extra punch to a shot. In the course we had to develop as many new skills as we could in both using cameras and video editing software to create new effects.
Static Messages
This is a short clip of a 3 minute piece that was designed to be played audio from "The Devil is in the Details" by the 'Boards of Canada'. However for legal reasons I've put my own music to it but it simply doesn't have the same effect. The images were all composed of television recordings. Either by taking advantage of feedback loops or the way that television naturally distorts when re-recorded.
Lights of Euphoria
This was a short piece that played with light, focus and double exposure to create as many different light effects as I could. It was made to be played with audio from "Prelude" by 'VNV Nation'. I asked them if I could use the music in my project but they haven't gotten back to me and given the time that has passed...I doubt they will. Instead of having the whole piece played out I've taken a double exposure shot and put it into a sample video.
